The Asia Area Presidency has been reorganized, with Elder Donald L. Hallstrom as the Area President and Elder Anthony D. Perkins and Kent D. Watson as first and second counselors, respectively. Prior to this leadership change, both Elders Hallstrom and Perkins served in the Asia Area Presidency. Their previous experiences with the people, the countries, as well as the cultures will definitely help them fulfill their continuing assignments in Asia. As General Authorities, these leaders often travel to strengthen and inspire members throughout their assigned areas. Due to his Church responsibilities, Elder Hallstrom has been away from his family for a number of years, but he considers this more of a privilege. “My opportunities to serve have always brought enormous joy, so they have never been a burden to me,” he said. “The gospel is the foundation of our family and our service is only a small repayment to the Lord. We love the members of the Church in the Asia Area and it is our privilege to be among them.” As for Elders Perkins and Watson, they too are excited to serve in Asia since they both were in Taiwan as young missionaries and mission presidents and lived in China during their professional careers.
